If you must leave your cell phone on, put it on vibrate. You do not want some kind of funky ring tone like Kanye West’s “Gold Digger,” Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable,” or Justin Timberlake’s “SexyBack,” going off during your interview. That would be embarrassing and inappropriate.
If you do keep your phone on, be polite.
Use common sense and good phone etiquette. If you must answer your phone while in the presence of an admission s staff member, do not hold up your finger indicating that you will only be a minute and that she or he should wait for you so that you can take the call – yes, this has really happened! Tell your caller that you will return the call as soon as possible, and apologize to the person whom you have just left waiting.
Remember, everything that you do in the interview process reflects on how you might treat a patient or colleague.
