- Athletes get MBAs Too!- The Wall Street Journal takes a look at George Washington University’s School of Business’ new STAR—“special talent, access and responsibility”—program geared towards athletes and other public figures. This is the first program of its kind; STAR students take classes separately from the rest of the students, meet up six times during the two-year program and complete a number of their courses online.
- MBA Scholarships for the Military- Military MBA, an education network for military officers and NCOs interested in applying to MBA programs, has many scholarship for students applying to its list of member schools. These scholarships can be instrumental in paying for an MBA degree! But the deadline for the scholarship applications is December 31, 2011, so act fast!
- How Does Being a Woman Change Your B-School Experience?- Forbes lists the five things women should know before embarking on the MBA application process. Since many classes are only 30% women and the environment in B-school can sometimes seem like a fraternity, it is important for women to make sure they don’t get cast in the role of “secretary” on group projects and maintain a strong voice in the classroom.
- Wharton Goes to China- The Daily Pennsylvania reports that Penn has expressed interested in developing a Wharton Center in China. Wharton has recently started its Accelerated Development Program in India and plans on learning “from our delivery of this program [in India]” to see “how we can do it in China … and in other locations.” However, there are no concrete plans for China…yet.
