The National Law Journal recently reported that New Hampshire’s only law school, Franklin Pierce Law Center, and the University of New Hampshire have entered talks regarding a possible merger. The merger could be mutually beneficial for both institutions. UNH President, Mark W. Huddleston said in a statement:
“UNH is interested in pursuing this relationship in no small part because of potential synergies with our business and engineering programs, especially in the area of intellectual property, a major strength at Pierce Law.”
Likewise, Franklin Pierce would benefit from expanded research opportunities and access to UNH’s other programs, specifically in the area of engineering. A final decision regarding the possible merger is expected in early spring.
