The first line of this Inside Higher Education article says it all: "Grade inflation is alive and well at Harvard University, but despite some high profile unhappiness from a long-time critic, many students and professors aren’t sure there’s cause for concern."
The Ivy League colleges, notably Harvard, Princeton, and Columbia have struggled with grade inflation. Harvard seems to be giving up the battle. I guess a high GPA is good for Harvard students’ self-esteem.
