AP courses are a fixture in the college application process. My earlier post pointed to a thoughtful article that followed Crossroad’s dropping of AP Exams. Today I came across an article in US News reporting on a study showing that mere participation in AP courses does not correlate to high GPA in the first two years of college. The study, conducted by Saul Geiser, a research fellow at the Center for Studies in Higher Education at the University of California-Berkeley, also shows that high AP test scores is one of the best predictors of college success. In addition the author of this piece also provides an analysis of the AP programs strengths and weaknesses.
