Today was a big day for news from Harvard Business School.

• Dean Jay Light will retire in June after forty years at Harvard Business School according to an announcement by Harvard President Drew Faust. President Faust adds that she intends to "consult widely in the search for Jay's successor, and will be in further touch with the Business School community in the time ahead to welcome advice on the school, its future, and prospective candidates for dean."
• HBS Admissions Director Dee Leopold announced in a blog post today that Harvard will probably extend roughly a dozen additional interview invitations before the Dec. 15 decision notification date for Round 1 applicants. She adds:

"As I've said before, we are building a waitlist of round 1 candidates - both those who have been interviewed and those who haven't. A "waitlist" letter in round 1 is essentially a "further consideration" decision - we will try to resolve many of these cases after we review round 2 applications. Last year we ended up admitting 70 people from the waitlist."
