Michigan Law Will Let Few Students Skip LSAT
The National Law School Journal reports that the University of Michigan Law School will admit a handful of students without the LSAT. This program, the Wolverine Scholars Program, is available only to University of Michigan undergrads who have completed their junior year and have a 3.8+ GPA.
Quoting the Dean of Admissions at Michigan Law, Sarah Zearfoss, the NLJ says the program is "an attempt to persuade more Michigan undergrads and in-state residents to enroll. The vast majority of the school's law students are from out of state."
An additional requirement for the program: Applicants must not take the LSAT.
The program will begin accepting applications in May 2009 for 2010 matriculation. Zearfross indicated that she anticipates 5-10 students in the Michigan Law class of 360 will be Wolverine Scholars.
