UNC Extends Interview Deadlines for Two Rounds

I just received the following email from UNC:

We are pleased that you are applying to UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School.  Due to increased interview demand, we have decided to extend the interview deadline for two of our upcoming deadlines.  The new interview completion dates are:

Deadline 2
Application deadline: December 7, 2007
Interview must be completed by: December 21, 2007 (New date)

Deadline 3
Application deadline: January 4, 2008
Interview must be completed by: February 23, 2008 (New date)

We hope that this extra time makes it more convenient for you to schedule an interview.  If you have already scheduled or completed your interview, you can disregard this message.

In addition to being important procedural information for UNC applicants, this message implies that UNC is having more applications from people it wants to interview than it anticipated. Almost all schools that I have been in touch with report that attendance at events is up, and for those schools that have had an application submission date pass, application volume is up over last year. Apparently UNC is having the same experience.
