Law School News of Note
A few items of note in the law school realm:
- First-year associate salaries continue to head north. Law.com reports that Manatt, Phelps is boosting starting salaries to $145,000, matching Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges, which began offering that salary last March. Other LA firms say they are going to wait and see before matching these two firms.
- UVA Law reports stats on its first year class. The class of 2009 is the largest ever for UVA at 375 members. It is roughly 60% male, with a median age of 24. Approximately 40% hail from Virginia, and the class has a median LSAT score of 169.
- Harvard Law recently announced a change to its deferral policy. You now can request a deferral of your matriculation for up to two years.
