The Global MBA

BizEd has had a couple of valuable articles on MBAs with a global focus in the last two issues. In its May/June issue, Ilan Alon and Craig McAllaster report on their research on global MBA's in "Measuring Your Global Footprint." They determined six factors that are important to a truly international MBA program. The following all contribute to the global nature of a program's educational experience:

  • Faculty with global experience.
  • Cross-cultural diversity in the faculty.
  • Global curriculum.
  • Language requirement.
  • Cross-cultural among students.
  • Student global experiences.

The latest issue, the July/August issue of BizEd continues on this international theme with an article directly related to the last element: "The Global Consultancy Project" Actually it is a series of 4 articles about he global consultancy projects at MIT Sloan, Tuck, Yale, and Manchester, which actually requires it of all MBA students.

If you are interested in an MBA with a global focus, these articles should be part of your research. Furthermore, if you decide to apply to any of these schools and their global footprint is part of the reason for your application, these article may provide you with insight that will help you clarify the school's role in bridging the gap between your past and the future you would like for yourself.
